The temporary government in Sindh said no to a plan asking for Rs. 2 billion to get vehicles and gear for Rangers, like water cannons and radios.
The people in charge of safety in the province asked the government for Rs. 2 billion for the Rangers. They said the Rangers need this money for gear to control big crowds and help the police.
The government leaders talked about making the Rangers stronger because of the elections coming soon. But they said no to giving more money for that. Instead, they set aside Rs. 357 million to buy gear and vehicles for dealing with big crowds.
Also, the leaders said yes to spending Rs. 3.3 billion to fix almost 9,900 school buildings in different parts of the province. They want to fix 1,015 in Karachi, 4,520 in Hyderabad, and 4,366 in Sukkur.
These are the schools where they'll put voting stations for the next big elections.
The people in charge of schools in those areas picked these schools for voting. Fixing them will cost Rs. 3.3 billion, and the leaders said yes to spending that money.
After the leaders said okay, it will take a few weeks for the school people to get the money. Then they have to find someone to fix the schools, which might also take a while. So, there might not be a lot of time left to finish all the repairs.
