The Higher Education Commission in Pakistan has changed its rules for undergraduates. They've decided that students don't have to take Pakistan Studies anymore.
Starting in 2023, students won't have to study Pakistan Studies in BA, BSc, and other special degree programs. It's a new rule for university students.
People who work in universities have different feelings about this decision. Some from the Federation of All Pakistan Academic Staff Association and Dr. Amjad Magsi, who works at Punjab University, are worried about it.
They said that Pakistan Studies has been taught in universities for many years. Changing it might make some people feel sensitive about our country.
They asked the Higher Education Commission to think again and make Pakistan Studies a must-learn subject for university students.
But someone from the Higher Education Commission said that universities don't have to follow this rule if they don't want to.
It's up to each university to decide if they want to teach Pakistan Studies or not. Different universities can choose what they want to teach.
