MULTAN, Nov 10 (APP): Making sure kids have good chances to learn using modern education isn't just a choice; it's really important to do well in today's competitive world. The time we live in, called the digital age, lets students prepare for the future by using the tools of modern education.
But some smart people think that education is changing in Southern Punjab to be more like the modern way, which might be not so great for social and human development.
When it comes to designing the school lessons based on what's happening around us, people have different ideas. It's not just about South Punjab; the lessons for the whole country should be updated to be more modern.
The lessons in school want to help each person grow in every way, so they can handle challenges in life and use their skills to make the world a better place," explained Dr. Muqarrab Akbar.
Kids today are different from before because they want to have a fun and modern way of learning to be ready for real life in today's world. They want their school to be just right for them, with things personalized and customized the way they like.
In a 2019 report by Ruffalo Noel Levitz, a company that helps schools and organizations, it was found that students who are a bit different from the usual are changing what's important to them. This includes students from places that are very developed and also those that are still developing.
Students really don't like it when their college or university makes things confusing for them. They want everything to be smooth, helpful, and always have the information they need. If the school can't do this the right way, it makes students unhappy.
Change always happens, whether we want it or not. Dr. Asif Ali from Muhammad Nawaz Sharif (MNS) Agricultural University says we shouldn't be scared of new things. The people in charge of the agricultural university want to add two new projects to what students learn, one about sounds (Cacophony) and one about keeping an eye on mosquitoes, and they're looking at what New Zealand is doing for ideas.
It will teach students the latest information on how to protect fields from flies by figuring out the 'wind beat frequency' in areas where the flies are causing trouble," he explained.
Riaz Baloch, who is part of the Punjab Curriculum Board and knows a lot about education, has different thoughts about bringing real modern education to the lessons taught in schools in South Punjab.
I think it's sad that what we're learning in school doesn't match what we really need in today's world, he said. Even students who get really high scores, like '1083 or 1085 out of 1100' in F.Sc, sometimes can't answer a question they've never seen before.
Riaz Baloch pointed out how donor agencies are putting pressure on local schools to not teach certain things. But even with that happening, he felt a bit better because the government said they're going to change how they give grades to students, using a 'grading system' instead of the current 'marking system.' This should help students feel more confident about the future.
Professor Dr. Mazhar Abbas, who is in charge of the Chemistry department at BZU, shared that they make sure the things students learn at the university are up-to-date with all the new technology that's coming out really fast. He explained that they change what students are taught every year with the help of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and they've been doing this a lot for the past three to four years.
Dr. Khizer Abbas, who is the boss at the local Institute of Medical Sciences, agrees with Dr. Mazhar. He said that they make sure the medical courses they teach are always new and get updated regularly. But, of course, there's always a way to make things better in everything, including how we learn in school," he added.
Schools and colleges are dealing with changes in how we learn things nowadays. Some people don't want to let go of the old way of teaching that has been around for a long time. We also need good technology to make sure all students can learn in the same way.
